(P-O-P-S) When you see the big purple bus at your local Toys“R”Us, you know that Barney’s in town on his 20th Anniversary tour, bringing fun, music and laughs.
(P-O-P-S) The Beatles told us “All you need is love;” Captain and Tennille promised that “Love Will Keep Us Together;” but it took a big purple dinosaur named Barney to show us the way.
And this journey is taking Barney to a city near you, thanks to the dino’s 20th Anniversary Big Purple Bus Tour.
“Barney has been sharing and caring with preschoolers for 20 years and this bus tour is his way of giving back to those that have loved him for so many years,” said Jamie Cygielman, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Products, HIT Entertainment North America.
To help spread the love Barney will visit 10 US cities in January when his tour resumes. On the first day at each stop, Barney will visit children at local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, performing a special birthday sing-along, taking pictures and donating new toys and DVDs to the hospital.
On the second and third day in each city, Barney will host a meet-and-greet birthday party at Toys“R”Us stores. Children will take digital photos with Barney and have the opportunity to create a birthday card to present directly to Barney himself! Look for Barney in CITY on DATE.
During the past 20 years of purple reign, Barney has given more than 3,000 hugs; and children and parents have shown him the love in return. More than 132 million Barney & Friends books have been sold globally. Two Barney & Friends albums went platinum, and his # of 2006 DVD releases ranked first in children’s brands in US homes.
So, while The Supremes may want us to “Stop! In the Name of Love,” Barney is 20 years young and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon.
